You know, everyone should have this amazing high
quality tape, but this Mike's Groove really ain't
shit. The MikeS is good, but nothing great occurs,
and it just doesn't move one the way this tune
certainly could. Ends around 6 minutes, as usual.
H2 is similarly standard; beautiful, but no
different than it ordinarily is. Week's opening is
FANTASTIC.. Mike's opening jam really works.
However, the rest of the Weekapaug is just -- YAWN --
nothing. Trey tools around a lot and just doesn't do
ANYTHING with the jam. It is easily the worst
Weekapaug I've heard since I've been reviewing my
versions of this tune. It is incredibly blgggh. At
times Trey sounds like he's kneading and building a
particular theme into something that will launch you
majestically into nirvana. Unfortunately, you are
not even vaguely moved. Trey basically sounds like
he's making it up as he goes along (which he is, but
he sure as hell isn't supposed to sound like he
is..). Booooo. Around 15 minutes total time, but
this makes it worse. 2.5 rating (D) (this version is
as lame as the standard amazing 1994 Weekapaug is
sensational... I apologize if you think this version
is incredible, but I must as a matter of principle
give this Groove a low rating). There are extremely
high quality copies of this tape out there... you
might want to try to get it. I really like it
(outside of this Groove). Here's the setlist. Far
as I know, this is all of it that is out there on
tape.. I think the Alumni is cut on all tapes..
because Paul ran out of space on the analog master or
DAT he was using.
