Antelope in Review Pt.8 10/31/94
Greetings fellow-netters,

Well, if you are like me, at home on Halloween instead of at the show,
then you are hating life!  I thought I would run through the 94’ ‘ween
just to get in the mood and substitute for being there tonight.  This
version is really strange.  Take a listen at home, and tell me, is this
what you expected from a really wonderful night....?

Here are the details:
10/31/94  Glens Falls Civic Center, Glens Falls, NY

3:      David Bowie, Bouncing Around the Room, Slave to the Traffic Light,
Rift, Sleeping Monkey, Poor Heart, Run Like an Antelope
E:      Amazing Grace, Costume Contest###, The Squirming Coil

Poor heart-- you heard one, you heard ‘em all!

Antelope -- Intro:  Stash tease in the intro... this could mean we are in
for a treat... but then again, we may be starring down the barrel of a
loaded gun.

Opening theme: (2:06)    Solid, some very wild work from Trey, sliding all
over the neck right before...

Trill!:  (2:35) pretty resounding trill.  Pretty average for a ‘Lope
though.

Key Change to Em: (2:41) Good beginning... I love it when Trey steps away
and lets Page have a go at it.  He is in the background now, waiting it
out, but Page seems a little dissonant... not too enthusiastic about
taking control of the jam.  Trey will wait for Page though... he is
totally in the background almost doing nothing waiting for his bandmate.
He is getting a little impatient and cuts into some licks, but still
nothing too great.  Second gear approach... but Trey actually puts it off
and skips over the natural climax in the music to wait some more on Page.
Page is just hammering and not really all that together.  Trey lifts a bit
and might have hit...

Second Gear:  (5:57) Possibly... I guess you could call it that.

Third Gear:  (6:39)definitely this time!!!  A really nice rip upwards by
Trey, but Page is really bringing the whole thing down... his hammering is
getting so old!   Trey is trying to break loose but I think they wish they
would have done this one in the 1st set.  What’s this?  A wild explosion
from some pick scratching (?) by Trey raising the stakes to...

Fourth gear:  (7:37) Trey has said f*ck it to Page and is just plain
wailing!!  Wild trills and riffs now!  He is really getting this thing
going, and I really appreciate that but the whole thing is totally short
lived.  A very nice lift from Trey rolling off into...

Pre-Marco-Groove: (8:22) Fish and Mike are very inconspicuous here.  The
whole mood is very subdued and Trey hurries to:

Ry, Ry, Rocco (almost in a whisper)

MARCO ESQUANDOLAS: at 9:02 (definitely in a whisper)

Would you happen to have any spike, man? (let’s go through the motions,
right?)

Gear Shift Theme:   whoops!!! A major mistake here as someone (Trey) flubs
on the guitar and there is a pause instead of an explosion into this
theme.  I don’t know about this...

Trey:- Set the Gear shift: (10:05)- trying to regain some face here... I
think they want out of this fast!  The verses and chants go without a
hitch, but still, they rap this sucker up really quickly.

End:  11:10 wow... I guess better luck next year, guys.  I hope tonight’s
show was better than this version.  One of the shortest versions I have
heard and definitely one of the worst.  I mean, we saw no substantial
jamming and nothing out of the ordinary.  Perhaps, placing this song at
the end of a great and intense night is not the best idea... they must
have been really tired.

Anyhow... I would really encourage people to comment and let me know if I
am way out in the dark.  I have gotten so much support and I am really
appreciative for that, keep the suggestions coming.  I am not going in
chronological order, because I see no benefit to that, and this way it is
a surprise, right?  Well, take it easy every and let me know how tonight’s
show turned out.  Till next time,

Captain Prichard
